Puerto de la Duquesa is situated just to the west of Sabinillas, Manilva and is one of the many Marinas to be found along the Costa del Sol. It is within easy reach of both Gibraltar airport (30 mins) and Malaga Airport (40 minutes). The Autopista AP7 serves the whole of the Costa del Sol which makes Duquesa an ideal location if you want to explore. There is a motorway access at Manilva.
Duquesa not only offers the usual services for boat enthusiasts but also a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops to suit all tastes. Whether it be French, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai or Spanish it is all there in Duquesa.
The Marina itself covers several levels from the moorings upwards which adds to the interest and provides an attractive layout for those wishing to take that evening stroll. There are excellent beaches both sides of the Marina plus an 18 hole golf course, La Duquesa Golf and Country Club. For the golfers courses abound and include Alcaidesa, a Links course overlooking the Rock of Gibraltar, Valderrama, host to the Ryder Cup and Sotogrande just down the road.
The discerning shopper in search of the designer names has only to drive to Marbella and Puerto Banus. The El Corte Ingles department store at Puerto Banus should definitely be on the menu as should the boutiques, shops and cobbled streets of Old Town, Marbella. When the need to "hustle and bustle" subsides, take a drive into the mountains behind Duquesa and sample the quieter life of the "white" villages. Casares in the closest and to see it clinging to the side of a ravine is amazing. There is little parking so park at the top (there are some good restaurants) and take one of the many cobbled pathways down.
Sabinillas, the seaside town next to Duquesa is also well worth exploring. There are good fresh fish restaurants on the beach and the promenade is there to walk off any over indulgence. Then there is Estepona, Cancelada, San Pedro………….!
In reality a week is not enough so why not come for two?!
